Born and raised in Mexico's Riviera Maya, Joel is a proud native Maya with a lifelong connection to the sea, mangroves, and natural beauty of the region. Growing up alongside his father, one of Xcalak's most respected fly-fishing guides, he learned the art of fly fishing, the importance of conservation, and the value of sharing authentic local experiences.
When his father became ill, Joel stepped forward to continue the family legacy and support his community. Today, with more than 15 years of experience and fluent English, he operates a premium private transportation and guide service throughout the Riviera Maya.
